Schools & Groups

In Hischool, collaboration is organized through Schools and Groups.

Understanding how they work together will help you navigate the platform efficiently and participate with clarity.

Hischool uses a two-level structure:

A School is a structured community and the primary workspace.

A school defines:

  • Members
  • Roles
  • Permissions
  • Categories
  • Governance and moderation rules

You must join a school before accessing its groups.

A Group exists within a school.

Groups are where day-to-day collaboration happens, including:

  • Conversations
  • Discussions
  • File sharing
  • Announcements
  • Learning activities
  • Team collaboration

You participate in groups after joining a school.

  1. Join a School.
  2. Browse available Groups within the school.
  3. Join or access specific groups (depending on permissions).
  4. Participate in discussions and activities.

Schools provide structure.
Groups provide interaction.

As a school member, you can:

  • Join or discover schools
  • View school information
  • Browse school members
  • Access available groups
  • Customize your school identity (if permitted)
  • Leave the school
  • Report the school (if necessary)

→ Explore School guides:

Inside a school, groups allow you to:

  • Join discussions
  • Send messages
  • Share files
  • React and reply
  • Receive notifications
  • Leave groups when necessary

→ Explore Group guides:

Your experience inside schools and groups depends on:

  • Your assigned role
  • School configuration
  • Group privacy settings
  • Administrative policies

Some groups may be open to all members.
Others may require specific roles or approval.

See:
Role & Permission Issues

Your:

  • Display name
  • Profile image

May vary between schools (if allowed by configuration).

This means your identity in one school may differ from another, depending on school-level settings.
