Search and Filter Conversations

The Messages section allows you to quickly locate conversations and manage your message list efficiently.

You can:

  • Search conversations by name or participant
  • Filter by unread messages
  • Filter by conversation type
  • Access recent discussions

To search for a conversation:

  1. Go to Messages.
  2. Use the search field at the top of the conversation list.
  3. Enter a name, group title, or participant.

Search may return:

  • Direct Message (DM) conversations
  • Group Message conversations
  • Recently active discussions

Results update automatically as you type.

You may filter conversations by:

  • All Conversations
  • Unread
  • Direct Messages
  • Group Messages

Filters help you focus on specific types of discussions.

Unread conversations:

  • Appear with a badge indicator
  • Move to the top when new messages arrive

Opening the conversation automatically marks it as read.

Conversations are automatically sorted by:

  • Most recent activity (default)
  • Latest message timestamp

Manual sorting is not supported.

To search for specific messages inside a conversation:

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Use the search feature inside the message panel (if supported).

See:
Find Messages in a Conversation

Your visible conversations depend on:

  • Whether you are a participant
  • Friend relationship (for DMs)
  • School membership (if context-based)
  • Role permissions

You cannot search or access conversations you are not part of.

  • Use the Unread filter to prioritize responses.
  • Keep group names clear for easier searching.
  • Review recent conversations regularly.
  • Avoid creating duplicate group conversations.

  • Make sure you are a participant.
  • Confirm the correct name or participant.
  • Check if you are using the correct filter.

Search only returns conversations you are allowed to access.

Conversations are automatically sorted by most recent activity.
