School Members
The Members tab displays all users who belong to the selected school.
In this section, you can:
- View member profiles
- Search by name or username
- Filter members by role
- Understand the school’s role structure
- Identify the school owner
For regular members, this section is informational.
For administrators and the owner, additional management actions may be available.
Member List Overview
Section titled “Member List Overview”The Members tab typically displays:
- Profile image
- Display name (school-specific, if configured)
- Username (@handle)
- Role label
- Membership status (if applicable)
In larger schools, members may load progressively for performance reasons.
Searching for Members
Section titled “Searching for Members”Use the search box to:
- Find members by display name
- Search by username
- Quickly locate specific individuals
Search results update dynamically.
If a member does not appear:
- Confirm correct spelling
- Check active role filters
- Ensure the user is currently a member of the school
Filtering by Role
Section titled “Filtering by Role”You may filter members by role, such as:
- Owner
- Administrator
- Moderator
- Member
Role filtering helps identify decision-makers or specific groups of users.
Note: Role names and structure depend on the school’s configuration.
Viewing a Member Profile
Section titled “Viewing a Member Profile”Clicking a member opens their profile.
Within a school context, the profile may display:
- School-specific display name
- School-specific profile image
- Role within the school
- Membership start date
- Owner badge (if applicable)
This view may differ from the user’s global profile.
School Owner
Section titled “School Owner”Each school has a single owner.
The owner:
- Is highlighted in the Members list
- May display an owner badge
- Has the highest level of permissions within the school
Only the current owner can transfer ownership (if supported by system configuration).
Role Visibility and Permissions
Section titled “Role Visibility and Permissions”All members can see:
- Role labels
- Owner badge
- Basic profile information
Only administrators (and the owner) can:
- Assign or modify roles
- Remove members
- Adjust role-based permissions

Large School Behavior
Section titled “Large School Behavior”In large schools:
- The member list may paginate or load incrementally
- Searching is recommended for faster results
- Role filters help narrow down large lists
What You Can Do as a Member
Section titled “What You Can Do as a Member”As a regular member, you can:
- View member profiles
- Search for users
- Identify role structure
- Open direct messages (if allowed by privacy settings)
You cannot:
- Remove members
- Change roles
- Access restricted member data
- Modify school-level permissions
Common Questions
Section titled “Common Questions”Why Can’t I See Some Members?
Section titled “Why Can’t I See Some Members?”Possible reasons:
- The user left the school
- You are viewing a filtered result
- The membership is pending approval
- The account was removed or restricted
Why Does Someone Have a Different Name Here?
Section titled “Why Does Someone Have a Different Name Here?”Hischool supports school-specific identity.
Members may customize their display name inside a school.

Why Can’t I Change Someone’s Role?
