Ban Members

Authorized members with the appropriate permissions can ban users who violate the school’s rules.

Banning a member means:

  • The member is removed from the school.
  • The member cannot rejoin the school.
  • The restriction remains active until manually lifted.

All ban actions should follow your published school policies.

See:
School Policies

Only users with sufficient authority can ban members.

This may include:

  • School Owner
  • Administrators
  • Moderators
  • Other roles with explicit permission

If you do not see the ban option, your role may not allow it.

See:
Roles & Permissions

You may ban a member if they:

  • Seriously violate school policies.
  • Repeatedly break community rules.
  • Harass or harm other members.
  • Attempt to disrupt the learning environment.
  • Rejoin after repeated removals and continue violating rules.

Bans should always be applied consistently and fairly.

To ban a member:

  1. Open the School.
  2. Go to Members.
  3. Select the member.
  4. Choose Ban.
  5. Confirm the action.

The restriction takes effect immediately.

After banning:

  • The member is removed from the school.
  • They cannot rejoin using:
    • Discoverable access
    • Invite links
    • Invite codes
  • Their account is added to the school’s Bans list.

The ban remains active until manually removed.

Bans do not have an automatic expiration.

They remain in effect:

  • Indefinitely
  • Until removed by an authorized role

The duration and enforcement approach should align with your school’s internal rules.

Banned users appear in:

School Settings → Bans

From this list, authorized roles can:

  • View banned members
  • Remove (unban) a member
  • Restore the user’s ability to rejoin the school

Once unbanned, the user can join again under normal access conditions.

See:
Banned Users

  • Permanent restriction.
  • Member cannot rejoin the school.
  • Requires manual removal from the bans list.
  • Temporary removal.
  • Member may rejoin if access conditions allow.

See:
Kick Members

Because bans restrict long-term access:

  • Ensure actions align with school policies.
  • Apply rules consistently.
  • Document serious violations if necessary.
  • Avoid emotional or impulsive enforcement.

Strong governance builds trust and fairness.
