Attach Files

You can attach files to messages in both direct and group conversations.

File attachments allow you to:

  • Share documents
  • Send images
  • Upload presentations
  • Collaborate on shared resources

To attach a file:

  1. Open a conversation.
  2. Click the Attach or Paperclip icon in the message input area.
  3. Select a file from your device.
  4. Wait for the upload to complete.
  5. Click Send.

After the upload finishes, the file will appear in the conversation.

Participants in the conversation will be able to access the file immediately.

Common supported file types include:

  • Images (JPG, PNG, GIF)
  • Documents (PDF, DOCX)
  • Spreadsheets (XLSX, CSV)
  • Presentations (PPTX)
  • Other commonly used file formats

Supported types may vary depending on system configuration or school policies.

File uploads may have size limits.

If your file exceeds the allowed size:

  • The upload may fail.
  • An error message may appear.

Maximum file size may depend on system configuration or school settings.

While uploading a file:

  • A progress indicator may be displayed.
  • The message may not be sent until the upload completes.

If the upload fails:

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Try uploading the file again.
  • Consider reducing the file size.

You may not be able to attach files if:

  • Your role restricts file sharing.
  • Conversation settings limit attachments.
  • School policies restrict certain file types.
  • Messaging permissions are limited.

See:
Manage Conversations

Before sharing files:

  • Make sure the content is appropriate.
  • Avoid sharing sensitive personal information.
  • Verify that the file does not contain confidential data.

In organization-managed environments, administrators may apply additional security policies.

Participants in the conversation can:

  • Click the file to preview it (if preview is supported).
  • Download the file to their device.

Access to files depends on conversation membership.

  • Use clear and descriptive file names.
  • Share only relevant files.
  • Avoid uploading unnecessarily large files.
  • Remove outdated or incorrect files when possible.

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Ensure the file size is within the allowed limit.
  • Confirm that the file type is supported.

Possible reasons:

  • Your role restricts file attachments.
  • Conversation settings limit attachments.
  • School policies restrict file sharing.

Some file types may not support in-app preview and must be downloaded to view.
