Ownership Transfer

Ownership Transfer allows the current School Owner to assign ownership of the school to another member.

The School Owner holds the highest level of authority within a school.

Transferring ownership is an important governance action and should be performed carefully.

The School Owner typically has the ability to:

  • Delete the school
  • Transfer ownership to another member
  • Manage roles and permissions
  • Configure structural settings
  • Oversee moderation authority
  • Access all groups and administrative settings

Ownership represents the highest administrative control within a school.

Only the current School Owner can initiate an ownership transfer.

This action cannot be performed by administrators, moderators, or other members.

To transfer ownership:

  1. Open your school.
  2. Go to School Settings.
  3. Navigate to the appropriate Advanced or Governance section.
  4. Select Transfer Ownership.
  5. Choose a trusted member from the school.
  6. Confirm the action.

Once confirmed, the selected member immediately becomes the new School Owner.

After ownership is transferred:

  • The new owner receives full administrative authority.
  • The previous owner loses ownership privileges.
  • School structure and configuration remain unchanged.
  • Groups, messages, and members remain unaffected.

Ownership transfer does not modify school content — it only changes governance authority.

Ownership should only be transferred to someone who is:

  • A trusted member of the school
  • Actively involved in the community
  • Familiar with school governance
  • Responsible for long-term administration

Avoid transferring ownership impulsively.

For long-term stability:

  • Avoid dependency on a single individual.
  • Plan leadership transitions in advance.
  • Assign administrative roles strategically.
  • Document important governance decisions.

Healthy governance includes clear succession planning.

Before transferring ownership:

  • Understand that the new owner will have full administrative control.
  • The new owner can delete the school.
  • The new owner can modify roles and permissions.
  • The new owner can restructure governance.

Always review the decision carefully before confirming.
