Send a Message

You can send messages in both direct and group conversations.

Messages allow you to:

  • Communicate privately
  • Collaborate with multiple participants
  • Share information quickly
  • Participate in structured discussions

To send a message:

  1. Open a conversation.
  2. Click the message input field.
  3. Type your message.
  4. Press Enter or click Send.

Your message will appear immediately in the conversation.

If sending fails, an error indicator may appear.

Direct Messages (DMs)

  • Sent to one person.
  • Visible only to you and the recipient.
  • Requires both users to be friends.
  • Messaging is not possible if either user has blocked the other.

Group Conversations

  • Sent to multiple participants.
  • Visible to all members of the conversation.
  • Only participants can view and send messages.

Always confirm the conversation type before sending sensitive information.

Depending on configuration:

  • Enter → Send message
  • Shift + Enter → Add a new line

Keyboard behavior may vary depending on device or platform.

If you type a message but do not send it:

  • The draft may be saved temporarily.
  • Returning to the conversation may restore your draft (if supported).

Draft persistence depends on system behavior.

After sending a message:

  • It appears immediately in the conversation.
  • Other participants can see it instantly (depending on connectivity).
  • Editing or deleting may be available based on permissions.

See:
Edit or Delete a Message

Editing may be limited by time or role permissions.

You may be unable to send a message if:

  • You are not friends (for DMs).
  • Either user has blocked the other.
  • Your role restricts messaging.
  • The conversation has restricted permissions.
  • You are no longer part of the group.
  • The school configuration limits messaging.

See:
Block or Unblock a User

  • Keep messages clear and relevant.
  • Avoid sending duplicate messages.
  • Review content carefully before sending in group conversations.
  • Respect school and platform guidelines.
  • Avoid sharing confidential information in unintended conversations.

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Refresh the page.
  • Try sending again.

If editing is allowed, modify the message immediately.
Otherwise, send a clarification message.

Possible reasons:

  • You do not have permission to send messages.
  • You were removed from the group.
  • Messaging is restricted by role or school settings.
  • You have been blocked (in direct messages).
