Edit or Delete a Message

You can edit or delete messages you have sent in a conversation.

These actions help you:

  • Correct mistakes
  • Update information
  • Remove incorrect or unnecessary messages

Message actions are available through the message menu.

Edit a Message

You can edit a message after it has been sent.

How to Edit a Message

There are two ways to start editing a message.

Method 1 — Hover Menu

  1. Hover your cursor over the message.
  2. A popover menu will appear.
  3. Click Edit Message.

Method 2 — Right-Click Menu

  1. Right-click the message.
  2. Select Edit Message from the context menu.

Editing Mode

When editing starts:

  • The message switches to editing mode.
  • An editable text field appears.

You can then modify the message.

Keyboard actions:

  • Enter → Save the changes
  • Esc → Cancel editing

Edit Modal for Large Messages

When hovering over the editing field, you may see a Zoom / Maximize icon.

Clicking this icon opens an Edit Message modal window.

The modal editor is useful for:

  • Editing longer messages
  • Reviewing large blocks of text
  • Making detailed changes

After editing, save the message from the modal.

Delete a Message

Messages can also be deleted.

Delete Confirmation

Deletion requires confirmation.

You may see the confirmation dialog in two situations:

1. Direct Delete Action

  1. Hover the message or right-click it.
  2. Select Delete Message.
  3. A confirmation window will appear.

2. Clearing the Message During Editing

If you:

  1. Edit a message
  2. Remove all text
  3. Press Enter or click Save

A confirmation dialog will appear asking:

“Delete this message?”

Confirming Deletion

In the confirmation window:

  • Click Delete to permanently remove the message.
  • Cancel if you do not want to delete it.

Once deleted, the message is removed from the conversation.

Permissions and Moderation

Editing and deleting messages follow these rules:

  • Only the user who created the message can edit or delete it.

However, messages may also be removed in moderation cases.

If a message is reported as inappropriate or violating platform rules:

  • Platform moderators may review the report.
  • If the content violates policies, moderators may remove the message.

Moderation actions help maintain a safe and respectful environment on the platform.

  • Review messages before sending.
  • Use editing to correct mistakes quickly.
  • Delete messages only when necessary.
  • Avoid removing messages that are important to the conversation context.
