Delete School

Deleting a school is a permanent and irreversible action.

Once a school is deleted, all data associated with it is permanently removed from the system.

This includes:

  • All groups
  • All messages and discussions
  • All members and memberships
  • All categories and structural configuration
  • All invitations and invite links
  • All moderation records (such as bans)

This action cannot be undone.

Typically, only the School Owner has permission to delete a school.

Administrators, moderators, and regular members cannot delete the school unless the permission is explicitly granted.

For security reasons, deletion authority should be strictly limited.

See:
Roles & Permissions

After the deletion is confirmed:

  • The school is removed from all member accounts.
  • All groups and discussions disappear.
  • Invite links and invite codes stop working.
  • All structural configurations are permanently removed.

There is no recovery option once deletion is completed.

Deleting a school may be appropriate in situations such as:

  • The organization or community has permanently closed.
  • The project has ended with no future activity planned.
  • The school was created by mistake.
  • A full migration to a new school or structure has been completed.

Deletion should not be used for temporary inactivity.

Before deleting your school, consider these alternatives:

  • Transfer ownership to another trusted member.
  • Archive inactive groups by restricting permissions.
  • Reorganize categories and groups to simplify the structure.
  • Remove inactive members instead of deleting the school.
  • Update school policies to improve governance.

See:
Ownership Transfer
Data Retention

Deleting a school permanently removes:

  • Academic and collaboration history
  • Member activity and discussions
  • Moderation and governance records
  • Structural organization of groups and categories

If this information has historical, institutional, or legal value, consider preserving it before deletion.

Before deleting a school:

  • Inform key stakeholders or administrators.
  • Review important groups and historical content.
  • Confirm that no institutional or legal requirement exists to retain records.
  • Document the decision internally if necessary.

Deletion should always be a deliberate and well-considered decision.

Because deletion is irreversible:

  • Carefully review the action before confirming.
  • Ensure you are logged into the correct account.
  • Confirm that you are deleting the correct school.

Accidental deletion cannot be reversed.

No.

Once deleted, the school and all associated data are permanently removed.
