Edit or Delete Groups

Groups may need updates over time.

Authorized members can:

  • Edit group details
  • Adjust permissions
  • Move groups between categories
  • Manage members (for private groups)
  • Delete groups or leave private groups

Changes to group settings affect members immediately.

Group management permissions depend on role configuration.

Depending on your school settings:

  • The Owner may manage all groups.
  • Specific roles may have permission to manage groups.
  • Some members may only manage groups they created.

If you do not see group management options, your role may not allow it.

See:
Roles & Permissions

Group management actions are available from the group menu ( … ).

From this menu you can:

  • Open Group Settings
  • Change Category
  • Delete Group

Most group management tasks are performed inside the Group Settings window.

The Group Settings window allows you to manage all aspects of a group.

Available sections include:

  • General
  • Permissions
  • Members (Private groups only)
  • Category change
  • Delete group

The General section contains the main group information.

At the top of the page:

  • The current group category is displayed.
  • A Change Category action is available.

You can update:

  • Group image
  • Group name
  • Group description

Image requirements:

  • Maximum file size: 2.50 MB

Changes take effect immediately.

The Permissions section controls what roles can do inside the group.

You can configure:

  • Which school roles can access the group
  • What actions each role can perform

If your school has no custom roles, only the @everyone role will appear.

The @everyone role defines default permissions for all members in the group.

See:
Roles & Permissions

The Members section appears only for Private groups.

This section contains the list of members who belong to the group.

You can:

  • View group members
  • Add members
  • Remove members

Members can be added from:

  • School members
  • Your friends list

If a friend is not yet a member of the school, they will automatically be added to the school when invited to the group.

Removing a member immediately removes their access to the group.

Groups may be moved to a different category.

To change the category:

  1. Open Group Settings
  2. Select Change Category
  3. Choose the new category

The sidebar structure updates automatically.

See:
Structure Categories

Group deletion behavior depends on the group type.

Deleting a public group will:

  • Show a confirmation dialog
  • Permanently remove the group after confirmation
  • Remove all group discussions and content

Deleted groups cannot be restored.

Use caution when deleting public groups.

Deleting a private group behaves differently.

Instead of deleting the group immediately:

  • The action removes you from the group membership.

If you are the group owner:

  • Ownership will automatically transfer to another member.

When the last member leaves the group, the group is automatically deleted.

  • Updates group information
  • Changes permissions
  • Moves group between categories
  • Keeps history intact
  • Removes the group permanently
  • Removes access for all members
  • Cannot be restored

Choose carefully before deleting groups.

When a group is deleted:

  • Members immediately lose access to the group
  • School membership is unaffected
  • Other groups remain unchanged

Deleting a group only affects that specific group.

No.

Once a group is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
