School Groups

The Groups tab displays all groups within a school.

Groups are structured spaces where members:

  • Communicate
  • Share content
  • Collaborate
  • Organize discussions

Your access to groups depends on:

  • Group type (Public or Private)
  • Your role
  • School configuration

Hischool supports two types of groups:

A Public Group is visible to all members of the school.

Key characteristics:

  • All school members can see the group.
  • There is no Join button.
  • All members are default members of the group.
  • Clicking the group opens its content immediately.
  • Suitable for announcements, general discussions, and school-wide communication.

Public groups are ideal for:

  • School-wide updates
  • Public discussions
  • Shared resources
  • Important announcements

Every member of the school automatically has access.

A Private Group is restricted and not visible to all school members.

Visibility and access are limited to:

  • The group creator
  • Members explicitly added to the group
  • School members with specific roles that grant access

Private groups are suitable for:

  • Restricted projects
  • Closed teams
  • Internal discussions
  • Confidential collaboration

If you are not a member and do not have the required role, the group will not appear in your list.

Inside the Groups tab, you may see:

  • A search box
  • Category filters (if enabled)
  • Group cards or list view

Groups may be displayed in:

  • Grid (card) layout
  • List layout (if supported)

Public and Private groups are displayed based on your access rights.

Use the search box to:

  • Find a group by name
  • Search by keywords in descriptions
  • Quickly navigate large schools

Search results update dynamically.

If a group does not appear:

  • It may be Private.
  • You may not be a member.
  • Your role may not allow visibility.
  • A category filter may be active.

Schools may organize groups into categories.

Categories:

  • Appear as tabs or collapsible sections
  • Help structure large schools
  • Filter visible groups

Selecting a category updates the group list.

If no categories are configured, all visible groups appear in a single list.

Public groups require no joining action.

Your ability to:

  • Create a group
  • Edit group details
  • Add members to private groups

Depends on your assigned role in the school.

See:

In schools with many groups:

  • Categories help reduce clutter.
  • Search is recommended.
  • Groups may load progressively.

Navigation performance may vary depending on device and network conditions.

Possible reasons:

  • It is a Private group.
  • You are not a member.
  • Your role does not grant access.
  • A category filter is active.

Public groups do not have a Join button.

All school members are automatically members of Public groups.

Group creation may be restricted to:

  • Owners
  • Administrators
  • Specific roles
