React and Reply to Messages

In addition to sending new messages, you can interact with existing messages using:

  • Reactions (emoji feedback)
  • Replies (context-based responses)

These tools help keep conversations clear and organized.


Reactions allow you to respond quickly to a message without sending a new message.

You can use reactions to:

  • Acknowledge a message
  • Show agreement
  • Express emotion
  • Provide quick feedback

You can react to a message using the popover menu.

To add a reaction:

  1. Move your mouse over a message.
  2. A popover menu will appear.
  3. Select an emoji from the menu.

The selected emoji will appear attached to the message as a reaction.

Other participants in the conversation can see the reactions.


To remove your reaction:

  1. Click the emoji reaction you previously added.
  2. The reaction will be removed.

Reactions are useful for:

  • Quick confirmations (👍)
  • Appreciation (🎉)
  • Agreement (✅)
  • Emotional responses (😄)

Using reactions helps reduce unnecessary messages.


Replies allow you to respond to a specific message while maintaining context.

Replies help:

  • Clarify which message you are responding to
  • Keep discussions organized
  • Reduce confusion in active conversations

You can reply to a message in two ways.

  1. Right-click on a message.
  2. A context menu will appear.
  3. Select Reply.
  4. Type your response and send it.

  3. Select Reply.
  4. Type your message and send it.

Your reply will reference the original message.


When replying to a message:

  • The original message will be referenced.
  • Participants can see which message you are replying to.
  • This helps keep discussions organized, especially in active group conversations.

You can also mention users in a reply if needed.

You may not be able to react or reply if:

  • Messaging is disabled
  • The conversation is closed
  • You are no longer part of the conversation
  • Role restrictions apply

  • Use reactions for quick responses.
  • Use replies when responding to a specific message.
  • Keep replies clear and relevant.
  • Avoid excessive reactions in formal discussions.

  • The feature may be restricted by role.
  • The conversation may be closed.

  • Messaging permissions may be restricted.
  • The conversation may not allow reactions.

Make sure you selected Reply from the context or popover menu before typing.
