Profile Not Updating

If changes to your profile (such as display name, bio, avatar, or cover image) do not appear correctly, the issue is usually related to browser caching, network stability, or profile context.

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.


After updating your profile:

  • Make sure you clicked Save
  • Wait for a confirmation message
  • Avoid closing the page immediately after saving

If you did not see confirmation, try saving the changes again.


Profile updates may not appear immediately due to browser caching.

Try the following:

  • Refresh the page
  • Sign out and sign back in
  • Open the profile in a private/incognito window

Cached data may prevent recent updates from appearing.


If your internet connection dropped while updating:

  • The changes may not have been submitted
  • The save request may have failed

Confirm your connection is stable and try updating again.


Step 4: Confirm the Correct Profile Context

Hischool supports context-aware profiles.

Make sure you are editing the correct profile:

  • Your global profile (platform-wide)
  • Your school-specific profile (inside a school)

If your name or avatar appears differently inside a school, this may be intentional.

Step 5: Check Role or Permission Restrictions

Some profile fields may be restricted depending on:

  • School policies
  • Role permissions
  • Administrator settings

If you cannot edit certain fields, contact your school administrator.


If your avatar or cover image is not updating:

  • Wait a few moments for image processing
  • Refresh the page
  • Clear your browser cache
  • Try uploading a smaller image

Large images may take longer to process.


If profile updates still do not appear:

  • Clear browser cache
  • Disable browser extensions
  • Try another browser
  • Try another device

Local browser issues may prevent changes from displaying.


My Display Name Changed in One School but Not Everywhere

Hischool allows school-specific identity customization.

You may have edited:

  • Your global profile
  • A school-specific profile

Possible causes include:

  • Network interruption
  • Unsupported formatting
  • Save action not completed

Try simplifying the text and saving again.


My Avatar Shows on Mobile but Not on Desktop

This usually indicates a browser cache issue.

Clear the browser cache and refresh the page.


Contact your administrator if:

  • You cannot edit school-specific profile fields
  • Your role appears incorrect
  • School-level profile settings restrict updates

Administrators manage school roles and identity settings.


Contact support if:

  • Profile changes consistently fail to save
  • Profile images never update across devices
  • Multiple users report the same issue
  • You receive repeated system errors
