Banned Users

Banning is a serious moderation action.

When a member is banned:

  • They are removed from the school.
  • They cannot rejoin the school.
  • They lose access to all groups and school content.
  • Their account appears in the Bans list.

Banning actions should follow your school policies.

See: → School Policies

A ban may be appropriate if a member:

  • Repeatedly violates school rules.
  • Engages in harassment or harmful behavior.
  • Disrupts collaboration or learning activities.
  • Ignores prior warnings.
  • Attempts to undermine school governance.

For minor violations, consider warnings or temporary removal first.

To ban a member:

  1. Open the member profile inside the school.
  2. Select Ban Member.
  3. Confirm the action.

The ban takes effect immediately.

The member is removed from the school and added to the Bans list.

See: → Ban Members

To manage banned members:

  1. Open your school.
  2. Go to School Settings.
  3. Open the Bans section.

The list displays information such as:

  • Member name
  • Username
  • Date banned
  • (Optional) Reason for ban

Only members with appropriate permissions can access this list.

Bans do not expire automatically.

To remove a ban:

  1. Open the Bans list.
  2. Select the banned member.
  3. Choose Remove Ban.
  4. Confirm the action.

After a ban is removed:

  • The user may join the school again.
  • Rejoining depends on the school’s join or invitation settings.

See: → Members & Invitations

  • Bans do not expire automatically.
  • Duration cannot be configured.
  • Removal requires manual action by an authorized role.

While banned, the user cannot rejoin through:

  • Invite links
  • Invite codes
  • Discoverable school access

Access remains blocked until the ban is removed.

  • Define clear criteria for banning.
  • Document serious violations.
  • Avoid impulsive bans.
  • Ensure consistent enforcement.
  • Review bans periodically.
  • Allow reconsideration when appropriate.

Fair moderation helps maintain a healthy community.
